Via combusta

The via combusta, or burnt way, is a stretch of the zodiac usually given as fifteen degrees of Libra through fifteen of Scorpio. A Moon standing inside it was treated as unfit to judge from. Where the boundaries actually fall has never been agreed.

Sleep Like A Baby Tonight (Try This 30-Second Sleep Trick)
Today I’m sharing a simple sleep trick that will help you sleep like a baby no matter how bad your sleep is today.
A few years ago, a top sleep scientist working with one of the biggest drug companies in the U.S. stumbled on something extraordinary…
A 30-Second “Sleep Trick” that actually helped people sleep deeper and longer — without pills, gadgets, or weird rituals, side effects, or sedatives.
And was fixing people’s sleep for good!
And that’s exactly why the company shut it down.
Because once people fixed their sleep... They stopped buying their high melatonin pills.
So, this doctor walked away…
He quit. Left Big Pharma behind — and dedicated his life to helping people sleep like babies again… naturally.
Today, his 30-second sleep trick is finally available to the public — and it’s already helping thousands fall asleep faster, stay asleep all night long and wake up truly rested.
It’s shockingly simple. You’ll wonder why no one told you this before…
The average sleep score in the US is 41 out of 100, however people who use this 30 seconds sleep trick consistently average 80+.

Between fifteen degrees of Libra and fifteen degrees of Scorpio the old books mark a stretch of sky they called the burnt way. The Moon opens today at eight degrees of Libra and meets the Sun at seventeen, at 15:50 UTC. The new Moon of this month therefore falls two degrees inside it.

Via combusta is the Latin for it. Lilly, in London in 1647, warns against judging a horary question at all while the Moon stands in that arc, on the grounds that a chart cast there cannot be relied on, and he is repeating a caution a good deal older than himself. What nobody settles is where the burnt way starts and stops. Fifteen to fifteen is the common figure. Other sources draw the lines elsewhere, and some tie them to the fixed stars in that region rather than to the degrees at all.

The explanation given most often is the plainest one available. The Sun’s fall is Libra. The Moon’s fall is Scorpio. The burnt way runs straight through both, which makes it the one stretch of the circle where neither light has any standing whatever. Whether that is the reason or a tidy rationalization arrived at later is not something the record settles. She is cazimi for a moment at 15:50, in the heart of the Sun, and goes void of course at 23:07 UTC. There is nothing to see tonight. The month starts here.
