The week opens with the Moon in Capricorn, which is her detriment, the sign standing opposite the one she rules. She entered it early Saturday and holds there until Monday afternoon. A short void of course follows at 14:31 UTC on Monday. That term covers the interval between her last exact aspect in a sign and her arrival in the next one, and this one closes at 17:15 UTC when she crosses into Aquarius.
Aquarius is Saturn’s other house, so the first four days of these seven are spent entirely inside Saturn’s territory. She holds no dignity in Aquarius either, neither honor nor disgrace, a condition the tradition called peregrine, from the Latin for foreigner. Her longest stay of the week falls here, roughly two and a half days, and the week’s longest void opens inside it: from 08:18 UTC Wednesday until she enters Pisces at 03:24 UTC Thursday, some nineteen hours.
Wednesday also carries the equinox. The Sun leaves Virgo and enters Libra at 00:06 UTC, and from that point the week runs toward its largest event. On Saturday the Moon leaves Pisces at 10:24 UTC, after a short void beginning at 08:32, and enters Aries. Six hours later, at 16:49 UTC, she is full, at three degrees of Aries with the Sun at three degrees of Libra.
That is the whole of a full Moon in the older accounts: the two lights standing opposite one another across the wheel. Ptolemy, in second century Alexandria, measures the lunar month by exactly this, the Moon’s angular distance from the Sun, rather than by how much of her looks lit. The cycle that opened with the new Moon in Virgo on the eleventh therefore closes in Aries on the twenty sixth. Aries gives her no dignity of her own, so she is at her brightest and without title in the same hour.

Aries
Saturday is the sign’s day. The Moon enters Aries at 10:24 UTC and is full there at 16:49, at three degrees, with the Sun opposite in Libra. She holds no essential dignity in Aries, which belongs to Mars and is the Sun’s exaltation. The brightest Moon of the month therefore arrives in a sign where she has no standing of her own.
Taurus
Exaltation is the word Taurus owns here: the sign where a planet is held to work above its ordinary rank, a guest seated higher than his station. Taurus is the Moon’s exaltation, and she does not reach it this week. She comes as near as Aries on Saturday and crosses into Taurus only on the twenty eighth, two days after these seven close.
Gemini
The long void of the week opens on a Mercury aspect, at 08:18 UTC Wednesday, and Mercury is the ruler of Gemini. That is the sign’s one direct part in these seven days. The Moon herself does not enter Gemini until the thirtieth, four days past the close of this week.
Cancer
Cancer is the Moon’s domicile, her own house, the single sign where she rules outright and borrows authority from nobody. She was last there on the sixth and seventh of this month, and she does not return inside these seven days. The week runs Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, which is the far arc of the wheel from home.
Leo
Everything structural in this week belongs to the Sun, and the Sun rules Leo. It leaves Virgo at 00:06 UTC Wednesday and enters Libra, which is the equinox. Then on Saturday afternoon it stands exactly opposite the Moon, and that opposition is the full Moon itself. Leo’s ruler sets the frame the Moon’s movement fills in.
Virgo
The cycle now closing began in Virgo. The new Moon of the eleventh fell at eighteen degrees of the sign, and Saturday’s full Moon is the other end of that same lunation. The Sun leaves Virgo at 00:06 UTC Wednesday. The Moon does not enter the sign again this week, so Virgo’s part in it is a beginning already made.
Libra
At 00:06 UTC on Wednesday the Sun arrives at zero degrees of Libra and the season turns. By Saturday afternoon it has reached three degrees, with the Moon at three degrees of Aries directly across from it. Libra holds one end of the week’s full Moon. The Moon herself does not enter the sign in these seven days.
Scorpio
Mars rules Scorpio, and the last void of the week opens on the Moon’s final aspect to Mars, at 08:32 UTC Saturday. It closes under two hours later when she enters Aries, which is Mars’s other house. Scorpio is the Moon’s fall, the sign where she keeps her nature and almost none of her authority, and she left it on the sixteenth.
Sagittarius
This week begins just after the exit. She crossed out of Sagittarius at 04:55 UTC on Saturday the nineteenth, having made her first quarter there at twenty five degrees the evening before. Nothing in these seven days brings her back. The sign’s business for this lunation was finished before Sunday started.
Capricorn
Sunday and Monday are the sign’s own. The Moon holds in Capricorn from the week’s opening until 17:15 UTC Monday, and Capricorn is her detriment, the sign opposite Cancer, which she rules. The older writers read that as constraint rather than damage. A short void runs from 14:31 UTC Monday to the moment she leaves.
Aquarius
Two and a half days here, the longest stay of the week: in at 17:15 UTC Monday, out at 03:24 UTC Thursday. Saturn rules Aquarius as well as Capricorn, so the Moon spends the first four of these seven days inside Saturn’s two houses. She is peregrine in Aquarius, and the nineteen hour void that begins Wednesday morning falls entirely within this stay.
Pisces
From 03:24 UTC Thursday to 10:24 UTC Saturday the Moon sits in Pisces, which is Venus’s exaltation and Jupiter’s house and nothing of hers. Peregrine again. This is the quietest stretch of the week, with no void inside it until the short one on Saturday morning that ends the moment she leaves the sign.
