The week opens with the Moon at seven degrees of Aries, hours past Saturday’s full Moon, and it is the first week in some time that gives her any standing at all. Aries offers her nothing. Neither did Pisces, or Aquarius, or Capricorn before them. She has been peregrine or worse, holding no office in the sign she occupied, since the nineteenth. That changes Monday afternoon.
A short void runs from 09:50 UTC Monday, the gap between her last exact aspect in a sign and her entry into the next, and it ends at 14:41 UTC when she crosses into Taurus. Taurus is her exaltation, the sign where the tradition held a planet works above its ordinary rank. She keeps it for two days. Then the longest void of the week opens at 23:36 UTC Tuesday and does not close until she reaches Gemini at 17:27 UTC Wednesday, roughly eighteen hours.
Gemini gives her nothing again, and she holds it from Wednesday afternoon to Friday evening. A second long void, from 02:42 UTC Friday, ends when she enters Cancer at 19:55 UTC. Cancer is her domicile, the one sign she rules outright. The last quarter falls there on Saturday at 13:25 UTC, at ten degrees, and a quarter is a square between the two lights rather than a stage in a sequence. Venus stations retrograde the same morning, around 07:00 UTC, at eight degrees of Scorpio.
Ptolemy, in second century Alexandria, sets the exaltations out alongside the domiciles as two different kinds of strength. A planet in its own house acts on its own authority. A planet in its exaltation is being credited with more than it strictly owns. The Moon collects both inside seven days, which is ordinary arithmetic for a body that crosses the whole circle in a month, and it follows ten days in which she collected neither.
The week’s ingresses
Monday void in Aries, 09:50 UTC
Monday into Taurus, 14:41 UTC
Tuesday void in Taurus, 23:36 UTC
Wednesday into Gemini, 17:27 UTC
Friday void in Gemini, 02:42 UTC
Friday into Cancer, 19:55 UTC
Saturday void in Cancer, 15:09 UTC
Aries
The week opens here and the lunation closed here. She stands at seven degrees on Sunday, hours past a full Moon that fell at three degrees of the sign. Aries gives her no dignity at all, being Mars’s house and the Sun’s exaltation, so she is only passing through. A short void Monday at 09:50 UTC, and she is gone by 14:41.
Taurus
Monday afternoon she reaches the best address she has held in ten days. Taurus is the Moon’s exaltation, the sign where she was held to work above her ordinary rank, and she keeps it for two full days from 14:41 UTC. The week’s longest void opens inside that stay, at 23:36 UTC Tuesday, and does not close until she leaves on Wednesday afternoon.
Gemini
Mercury leaves for Scorpio at 11:45 UTC Wednesday, six hours before the Moon arrives in the sign he rules. She holds Gemini from 17:27 UTC Wednesday until 19:55 UTC Friday and owns nothing in it. The second long void of the week opens Friday at 02:42 UTC and runs most of the day before she finally crosses out.
Cancer
Friday evening she comes home. Cancer is the Moon’s domicile, the single sign she rules outright, and she enters at 19:55 UTC and is still there when the week ends. The last quarter falls in Cancer on Saturday at 13:25 UTC, at ten degrees of the sign, and a void opens two hours after it that runs on past Sunday.
Leo
Mars arrives Monday at 02:50 UTC, into the sign the Sun rules, and stays for the rest of the week. The Moon does not reach Leo inside these seven days. She crosses in late on Sunday the fourth, at the end of a void that opens Saturday afternoon, so Leo’s turn begins just outside this issue.
Virgo
The sign’s ruler moves further off this week. Mercury goes from Libra into Scorpio at 11:45 UTC Wednesday, putting two signs between himself and Virgo. The Moon comes nowhere near it. She was last there at the new Moon of the eleventh, at eighteen degrees, and she does not return until the eighth of October.
Libra
The Sun spends the whole week in Libra, from four degrees on Sunday to nearly ten by Saturday. Venus, who rules the sign, stations retrograde around 07:00 UTC Saturday at eight degrees of Scorpio and begins moving backward toward Libra. The Moon does not cross the sign until the tenth of October, so this week belongs to the ruler and the Sun rather than to her.
Scorpio
Two arrivals and a departure. Mercury enters at 11:45 UTC Wednesday, Venus is already there and turns retrograde at eight degrees on Saturday, and Mars, who rules the sign, leaves for Leo on Monday. Scorpio is the Moon’s fall, the sign where she keeps her nature and loses her authority, and she does not visit it this week.
Sagittarius
Both of the week’s long voids open on the Moon’s last aspect to Jupiter, the one at 23:36 UTC Tuesday and the one at 02:42 UTC Friday. Jupiter rules Sagittarius, and he spends the week in Leo. The Moon does not enter Sagittarius until the middle of October, so the sign’s part in these seven days runs entirely through its ruler.
Capricorn
Saturn rules Capricorn and he spends the week retrograde in Aries. The last void of these seven days opens on the Moon’s final aspect to him, at 15:09 UTC Saturday, and it runs on past the week’s close. Capricorn is the Moon’s detriment, the sign opposite the one she rules, and she left it on Monday the twenty first.
Aquarius
Her north node sits at the very end of this sign all week, near twenty nine degrees and moving backward, which is the direction the nodes always travel. Aquarius is Saturn’s other house. The Moon left it on the twenty fourth, after a stay of two and a half days, and she does not return until the nineteenth of October.
Pisces
She left on Saturday morning, hours before the full Moon, and does not go back this week. Pisces is the exaltation of Venus, and Venus turns retrograde on Saturday at eight degrees of Scorpio, which is where the sign’s news sits in these seven days. Jupiter, who owns Pisces, stays in Leo throughout.
